Our dump stay in Boise, ID
Day 3: Boise, Idaho
The beds were clean and comfortable but the bathroom, shower needed a lot of work. As my daughter said, “What did you expect?” However, traveling for more than two months on a retirement budget requires serious compromises.
We met our long time friend and comrade Elazar in the neighboring town of Eagle. We met at the Tzaziki restaurant and had lamb gyros. It was great seeing Elazar, so sharp and still very political at the age of 87. His efforts to convert me to Trotskyism still failed though. But even at his age, he is a breath of fresh air as he always brings hope for the future.
We saw progressives preparing for a rally in support of the Black Lives Matter. Although the language seemed to be milder here in Boise, we were still pleasantly surprised and made sure to show our support. After visiting with Elazar and Jesse we returned to Boise to take a walk on the Green Belt park by the Boise River. It was well worth to take the time to spend in the park since we have been traveling through the desert in the last few days.

Sabah bir şehir gezisi sonrası uzun yıllardır dostumuz, yoldaşımız Elazar ve kız arkadaşı Jesse ile buluşmak için Boise’nin komşusu Eagle şehrine gittik ve Tzaziki (Cacık) adlı Akdeniz restoranında kuzu etli döner yedik. Elazar 87 yaşında ama 18 yaşında gibi umutlu, siyasi ve Troçkist. Beni yıllardır uğraştığı gibi Troçkist yapma çabası bu gün de fayda vermedi. Ancak umudu, enerjisi gerçekten çöl ortasında serin bir nefes meltem gibi geldi.
Elazar ve Jesse’yi gödükten sonra Boise’ye geri döndük, ve şehrin içinden geçen Boise Nehri’nin kenarına yapılan parkta dolaştık. Kaç gündür çölde olduğumuzdan bu park ve nehir çok iyi geldi bize.
